Bout Protest Formalities

Professional Boxing Organisation India (PBOI)

The decision of the PBOI Ringside Judges is final, and a bout review cannot alter the official result.

However, in exceptional circumstances, where there is a blatantly incorrect decision or a clear violation of PBOI Technical Rules by PBOI-appointed ring officials that directly affects the outcome of a bout, a specially constituted Jury may recommend that the bout be declared a “No-Contest (NC)”.


Procedure to Lodge a Protest Against a Boxing Decision

1. Conduct After the Bout

  • The Boxer and his/her seconds must leave the Field of Play via the designated route in a calm and orderly manner.
  • Any form of protest, commotion, or misconduct inside the Field of Play is strictly prohibited.

2. Submission of Protest

  • Within a reasonable time after the bout decision, the Boxer or an authorized representative must submit the official online Protest Form, clearly stating the intent to protest the bout result.
  • PBOI may consider protest submissions up to 72 hours after the bout, in cases where there is a delay in receiving official bout video footage from the Event Promoters.

3. Protest Fee

  • A non-refundable administrative fee of ₹2,500 must be paid online at the time of submitting the Protest Form.
  • Protests will not be processed without confirmation of payment.

4. Review by PBOI Jury

  • Upon completion of all protest formalities, the bout will be reviewed by a Specially Constituted Jury, appointed by the President, PBOI.
  • The Jury will conduct an independent and unbiased analysis once the official bout video is made available by the Promoters.

Grounds for Protest – Applicable Criteria

For protests related to the result of a bout, the following criteria shall apply:

A. Technical Rule Violation by the Referee

If the protest alleges a breach of PBOI Technical Rules, the submission must clearly specify:

  • The exact Technical Rule(s) allegedly violated
  • The round(s) in which the violation occurred
  • How the violation directly impacted the final result of the bout

Such violations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Failure to follow prescribed referee procedures
  • A foul incorrectly ruled as a legal action
  • A legal action incorrectly ruled as a foul

All details must be clearly mentioned in the Bout Review / Protest Form.


B. Non-Reviewable Decisions

Such decisions shall be binding and final, with no further appeal. has the discretion to accept a protest and order a review, if the President IBC feels that the decision warrants a video review.

In cases involving Non-Reviewable Decisions, the final authority shall rest solely with the President, Professional Boxing Organisation India (PBOI).
